John Glenn

 

John Glenn was the first American astronaut who traveled around the world. His journey took place on the 20:th February 1962 and became the beginning to a line of manned success for the USA:s spaceprogram. John Glenn was a reserve pilot under the first both Mercery-Flights, Glenn missed to be the first American in space. At least he did a flight with the Mercery-Capsule, Friendship 7. The Mercery-Capsule took him 3 times around the world in about 5 hours. That was Glenns only space travel that year. In 29:th October 1998 at 08.00 pm from Kennedy Space Center in Florida he took off to the space again and become the oldest man in the space and he was 77 years old. He was born 18:th July 1921 in Cambridge, Ohio. Today he's 80 years old.
